Wind River's boys get wins over Wright, Tongue River

Dec 16, 2012 - Randy Tucker, Staff Writer

Wind River broke into the winning ranks with a two-out-of-three weekend in the East/West Tournament at Tongue River and Big Horn.

Friday, the Cougars opened with a 74-53 loss at Big Horn but rallied on Saturday with a 76-64 win over Wright and a 77-74 decision against Tongue River.

The Cougars improved to 2-6 on the season.

The weekend featured the return of long-range shooting specialist Roger Wagon to the Cougar lineup. The senior guard completed a disciplinary suspension stemming from football season and gave the Cougars a pronounced offensive lift.

The 76 and 77 points scored Saturday easily were the highest total of the season for Wind River.

Wind River hosts Thermopolis this Friday in their final game of the pre-Christmas portion of the season.
