Beneranda "Betty" Hernandez died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Riverton Memorial Hospital. She was 81 years old.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at St. Margaret's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Davis Funeral Home.

Beneranda Hernandez was born Oct. 19, 1931, in Cimmaron, N.M., the daughter of Brigido and Angelica (Moya) Vigil. She attended schools in Cimmaron, N.M.

She married Eddie Hernandez on June 9, 1951, in Riverton. They lived most of their lives in Riverton but spent a short period of time in Alaska.

She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Her family said she enjoyed reading Western books, attending family gatherings and being with her dog, Lucky. They said she loved the outdoors, especially camping, fishing, yard work and planting flowers. Her family said her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving.

She is survived by her sons, Art-hur E. Hernandez, David Her-nandez and Richard Hernandez and his wife Rhonda all of Riv-erton; daughter Trina Holguin and her husband Joel of Riverton; brot-hers Frank, Emilio, Tony, Charlie and Jimmy Vigil; sisters Annie Mejorado, Philley Lopez, Nancy Carrizales, Marilou Vaughn and Susan Lawson; 13 grandchildren, Arthur Hernandez Jr., Anthony Hernandez, Josh Hernandez, Jacob Hernandez, Jedidiah Hernandez, Elaina Hernandez, Rosa Her-nandez, Selena Hernandez, David Hernandez, Donaldo Holguin, Elena Holguin, April Friday and Danielle Friday; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; children Tina, Ernest and Carol; and brothers Bonefacio Vigil and Daniel Vigil.

Memorials can be made to the Hernandez Memorial Fund in care of Davis Funeral Home.
