Jan 14, 2013 - By Christina George, Staff WriterThe Fremont County Solid Waste Disposal District Board of Directors has amended its bylaws to move meetings to the third Monday of each month.
It was also decided all meetings will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the landfill office in Lander.
The changes will go in effect with the first meeting Jan. 21.
In the past, meetings were held on the second Monday of each month.
They began at 9:30 a.m. in the winter months and switched to evening meetings in the summertime.
"There's a few reasons behind that," district superintendent Andy Frey said. "A lot of the information the Board of Directors gets is financial information and the billing period for us doesn't always allow that information to be received and reviewed and entered into the software (prior to the meeting)."
"It's been a scramble the few days before the board meets," Frey continued. "This will give the office staff more time to prepare for the meetings."
Frey noted office staff wouldn't be paid overtime for staying for the evening meetings, and board members who live elsewhere in the county won't have to travel to night meetings.
