Mar 4, 2012 - StaffWinona J. "Gruffy" Norman, 80, of Lander, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at the Lander Regional Hospital.
A celebration of her life will be at a later date.
Winona J. Warthen was born July 5, 1931, in Lander to Eliza Jane and Harold Warthen. She attended school in Lander and graduated from cosmetology school in Sheridan.
She married Carl Norman on Feb. 16, 1955, in Kinnear. They made their home in Lander, then moved to Worland for 20 years, running a sheep shearing business and working at Holly Sugar. They moved back to Lander in retirement.
Her family said Mrs. Norman enjoyed gardening, rock hunting, woodworking, leather work, nursing animals back to health and spending time with her family.
She was confirmed in the Lutheran church.
Mrs. Norman is survived by a son, Dean Norman and his wife Linda of Casper; a daughter, Carla Larralde of Lander; granddaughters Gina Norman of Seneca, Mo., and Tye Larralde of Lander; great-granddaughters Ashley, Alexis and Autumn; great-great-granddaughter Bailey; a niece and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl Norman; her sister, Billie Phillips, and a grandson, Ray Norman.
