Jan 16, 2013 - From staff reportsThe newly seated Fremont County Commission has elected its board officers for the year.
At the board's first meeting of the new year, Commissioner Travis Becker of Riverton nominated Doug Thompson to be chairman again, and Thompson won the spot in a unanimous vote.
Thompson, a Jeffrey City area rancher, is starting his fourth term on the commission.
Thompson called for nominations for the vice-chairman position next. New commissioner Stephanie Kessler of Lander put forth Keja Whiteman's name, and Larry Allen, also a newcomer, nominated Becker.
Thompson called for a vote by ballot, and Becker won the appointment to be vice-chairman.
Recently retired Commissioner Pat Hickerson of Lander had the vice chairman's post last year.
