Martha Leikam, a longtime resident of Riverton, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, in Casper. She was 85 years old.
A viewing will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, at St. John Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton.
Martha Leikam was born June 5, 1927, in Lyman, Neb., the daughter of Fred and Margaret (Melcher) Stricker. Altogether, she had 21 siblings (whole, half and step). She attended school in Mitchell, Neb.
She married Riney Leikam on Jan. 23, 1944, in Scottsbluff, Neb. They had four sons, Jerry, Tom, Jim and Rick. The couple moved their family to Riverton in 1952.
Mrs. Leikam was a cook at Lincoln Elementary and the head cook at Ashgrove Elementary for many years. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, cooking, baking and watching old Western movies.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry of Casper and Rick and his wife Kathy of Gering, Neb.; granddaughters Lynn Heller of California and Kim Lang and her husband Kevin of Gering, Neb.; grandson Haven Leikam of Golden, Colo.; great-grandsons Tyler Lang and John Stevens of Casper; great-granddaughter Ashlyn Lang of Gering, Neb.; and sisters Alvina and Lillian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Riney; sons Tom and Jim; granddaughter Michelle Stevens; and several brothers and sisters.
