Wind River High School raising money for hospice
Jan 27, 2013 - By Alejandra Silva, Staff Writer
Wind River High School is hosting several events this week to support the Help for Health Foundation in Riverton.
Organizers said the foundation represents one of two hospice houses in the state of Wyoming. The Help for Health Hospice in Riverton also provides a van to transport cancer patients to Casper for treatment and gives financial assistance to people struggling with bills for cancer treatments.
The goal is to raise $8,000 for Help for Health throughout the coming week. Community members can help by donating items to the WRHS office, or by attending a community dinner set for 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the high school commons. Dinner costs $12 for adults and $6 for students and will include lasagna, salad, garlic bread, dessert and drinks.
Other fundraisers begin Monday with a school-sponsored dodge ball tournament; teams will pay $20 to participate in the event. On Wednesday, WRHS students are invited to pay $5 each to enjoy a pizza and movie night. And on Thursday, the school will host a silent auction during the evening's basketball games against Lovell.
