Verneda Fox died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Riverton Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was 82.
Cremation has occurred. At her request, no services will take place.
Verneda Fox was born June 29, 1930, in Norton, Kan., the daughter of Fred and Anna Werner.
She was raised in Kansas, where she met and married Cody Lee Fox in 1948. They moved to Riverton in 1958, where they settled.
She worked as a waitress at the Teton Hotel, Ranch Kitchen and Chopping Café. She retired as a custodian from Central Wyoming College.
Her family said she enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, rock hunting and playing outdoors with her great-grandsons Bryant, Quenten and Conner Fox, who lived across the street. She liked to travel and saw Italy twice, California, Nevada, New York, Alaska and other states. She also loved cruises and playing the slots.
Her family said "she never knew a stranger. She loved to tell a story; Heaven will always be laughing."
She was a member of the Baptist Church in Hudson.
She is survived by one daughter, Connie Thomas, and her husband Jerry of Texas; son Cody Fox and his wife Becky of Wyoming; grandchildren Jerry Dwayne, Sean and Cory and their families; five great-grandchildren; sisters Irma of Madera, Calif., Irene and her husband Allan of Grover Beach, Calif., and Lois and her husband Floyd of Oceano, Calif.; and many nieces, nephews and friends who will forever miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cody Lee Fox; her parents, Fred and Anna Werner; brother Richard Werner; and sister Ordella Thomas.
