Feb 2, 2012 - By Bruce Tippets Sports Editor

Central Wyoming College used a 16-2 run at the start of the game to set the tempo for a 76-53 victory over Northwest College Wednesday night in a Region IX North women's conference battle.

Jacki Nicholson poured in 31 points for the Rustlers. It was the third straight CWC league win.

"We played our best game of the year on Wednesday," CWC women's coach Serol Stauffenberg said. "I would say our offensive rebounding and defensive rebounding helped us."

The Rustlers are 10-10 overall and 3-6 in league play. Northwest fell to 3-6 in conference. CWC and Northwest are 1-1 in the regular season series.

"I also thought that we did a pretty good job of managing the clock against Northwest," Stauffenberg said.

Casper next

The Rustlers play Casper College at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Casper. Casper College is nationally ranked, but the Lady Thunderbirds lost to Western Wyoming by 22 points on Wednesday in Rock Springs.

"Casper is not going to be real happy when we show up on Saturday," Stauffenberg said. "We played well the first time with them. It was a one two possession ballgame the entire way."

The Rustlers had no problem winning the rebound war at 43-21 over Northwest.
