Mar 25, 2013 - By Craig Blumenshine, Staff WriterThe Riverton Lady Wolverines soccer team gave new head coach Tanya Santee her first-ever win Friday afternoon with a dominating 2-0 victory over the Worland Warriors at Wolverine Field.
For most of the match, the Lady Wolverines (1-0-1) possessed the ball in their offensive half of the field and prevented Worland from generating any offensive rhythm.
In fact, the Wolverines generated 18 shots on goal from six different players.
"We played really well today. I was impressed, given how little time we've had to play together before today," Santee said.
Freshman Natalie Lymburn-er put Riverton on the board in the 38th minute when she scored from a corner kick by junior Rachel Graham. Lymburner's first varsity goal gave the Lady Wolverines a 1-0 lead they would take to halftime.
In the second half, senior Vanessa Nells took a pass from junior Taylor Paskett-Krause in the goal box to double Riverton's lead in the 56th minute.
"Venessa had just a great game," Santee said.
Riverton was scheduled to open conference play Saturday at home against Rock Springs but that game was postponed because of weather and will be rescheduled at a later date.
This week, the Lady Wolverines will travel to Casper Kelly Walsh on Tuesday and hit the road again on Thursday for a match in Gillette against the second-ranked Lady Camels.
Worland 0 0 --0
