The Riverton Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jaycee Park north of Riverton Middle School, and other events are scheduled at area churches for Easter Sunday.
At United Baptist Church, 1201 E. Pershing Ave., Sunday celebrations will begin at 6:45 a.m. with a sunrise service followed by breakfast and an Easter egg hunt. Sunday school starts at 9:45 a.m., and morning worship is at 11 a.m.
Way of the Cross Assembly of God will start a little later in the day Sunday with a 9:30 a.m. breakfast, then an Easter egg hunt. Easter morning service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the church, 635 S. Second St. W.
The egg hunt at Neighborhood Alliance Church will begin after a 9 a.m. Sunday breakfast and before a 10 a.m. service at 4440 Riverview Road.
Calvary Baptist Church, 429 E. Sunset Drive, has its Easter Sunday service scheduled for 11 a.m.; afterward an Easter egg hunt will be held for the children of the church.
An Easter service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Set Free Church, 620 W. Adams Ave., with a community gathering planned for the afternoon. An Easter dinner is scheduled for 5 p.m., but people can show up around 4 p.m. to get Easter baskets for kids and have an Easter egg hunt.
The event is called a "candy hunt" at Riverton's Church of the Nazarene, 408 E. Sunset Drive. The hunt is on at 9 a.m., with Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and Easter worship at 10:45 a.m.
For many churches, Easter is the final day of Holy Week, which follows Palm Sunday.
The Pavillion Community United Methodist Church had its Easter egg hunt on Palm Sunday. The church will continue its Holy Week celebrations with a 6:30 p.m. Maundy Thursday service at 307 N. Main in Pavillion. The Good Friday service is at 6:30 p.m. Easter Sunday worship will begin with a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. at Ocean Lake, followed by breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at the church fellowship hall. Sunday's worship service is scheduled for 9 a.m.
St. John Lutheran Church, 606 N. Eighth St. W. in Riverton, also will recognize Holy Week, with a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. and a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Easter morning breakfast is at 8:15 a.m., then a service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. An Easter egg hunt will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Maundy Thursday service is at 6:30 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church at the corner of North Sixth Street East and East Park Avenue. Worship is scheduled for noon on Good Friday, with a Holy Saturday service at 9 a.m. The Easter service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Trinity Lutheran Church, 419 E. Park Ave., has its Maundy Thursday service, which includes communion, at 7 p.m. Two Good Friday services will be held, one at noon and one at 7 p.m. And on Sunday a sunrise service will begin at 6 a.m. followed by regular services at 8:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. Communion will be served at all three services Sunday.
The Easter Triduum begins on Holy Thursday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church, 622 E. Park Ave. The Mass of the Lord's Supper will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, then on Good Friday the Passion of the Lord is scheduled for 3 p.m. with a soup supper at 6 p.m. and Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. On Holy Saturday an Easter vigil mass will begin at 8:30 p.m., then Easter Sunday celebrations are at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. The church conducts an Easter mass at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Kinnear, and there is an 8 a.m. Easter mass in Dubois at Our Lady of the Woods Catholic Church as well.
The "Living" Last Supper will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, 1116 W. Park Ave. The Good Friday service is set for 7 p.m., and on Easter a brunch will be 9:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. between the 8 a.m. service and the 10:30 a.m. service. Visitors are welcome.
Hillcrest Baptist Church, 1002 W. Main St., is planning a Good Friday service for 6 p.m. Easter will begin with a sunrise service at 6:30 a.m., then parishioners will enjoy a carry-in breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Sunday school is at 9 a.m., and church is at 10:15 a.m.
At Faith Fellowship Church of God, 3335 Lewis Road, a Maundy Thursday service is scheduled for 6 p.m., including a common meal, foot washing and communion. On Good Friday, a Tenebrae service is at 7 p.m. Pastor Aaron Justice said "Tenebrae" is a Latin word that means "darkening" or "shadows."
"By the end of the service everything is black," Justice said. "(It's about) remembering Jesus dying, remembering Jesus's death on the cross."
The Easter morning service is at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Faith Fellowship.
A Good Friday service will be at 7 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Shoshoni, which is located on Sandy Drive north of town.
Instead of an Easter egg hunt, area children ages 6 to 11 are invited to a celebration 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God, 701 E. Adams Ave. Organizers said attendees should be ready for free candy, popcorn and snacks, with prizes for people who bring a buddy along. A game room will be set up as well as an arcade, and basketball games, air hockey, and team nd small group activities will be ongoing throughout the evening.
The event also will include a "high impact" kids worship session including a 30-minute media-based Bible lesson on Easter. The children will be invited to return to the church on Sunday to hear the second part of the lesson.
For younger children ages 4-5, a special "launch pad" service will take place after the kids worship session. Parents should accompany the younger kids, but a nursery is available for children ages 0-3.

Other Riverton churches will celebrate Easter services as well.
Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m. followed by worship at 10:50 a.m. on Easter at the Wesley Bible Missionary Church, 800 S. Broadway Ave.
Lifeline Christian Church, 1430 Riverview Road, will have an Easter sunrise service at 7 a.m. with breakfast afterward. The church's regular service is at 10:30 a.m.
The Sunday morning service at First United Pentecostal Church, 320 S. Fifth St. E., is at 10 a.m.
First Baptist Church is having its multi-purpose Easter worship service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at the corner of North First Street and Sunset Drive. The church's choir will perform a cantata.
Cornerstone Community Church, 402 S. Seventh St. E., is holding its Sunday service at 10 a.m.
Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. at Lighthouse Bible Church, 622 N. Eighth St. W. Church services begin at 10:30 a.m.
