Replace smoke detector batteries

Fremont County Fire Protection District chief Craig Haslam is reminding the community to replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in their homes.

"Change your batteries this weekend with daylight savings time," Haslam said, recommending checking monitors with the time change.

"It should be done minimally once a year. I like to tell people to do it twice a year, that way they don't forget if they did it last time," he said.

If anyone needs a smoke detector, don't worry. "If people don't have smoke detectors, we have those available. We also have batteries if they need them," Haslam said.

The Fremont County Fire Protection District offices are located at 305 S. Smith Road in Riverton.

Register begins for bear baiting

Black bear hunters who want to use bait for the upcoming bear seasons are advised that the registration period for existing bear bait sites began March 1.

Those who had bait sites registered in 2011 can register the same sites from March 1-20. Registration of unclaimed bait sites begins on April 2 at Game and Fish regional offices.
