Mar 27, 2013 - By Craig Blumenshine, Staff WriterThe Kelly Walsh Lady Trojans scored three times in the first half, twice from distance, to beat Riverton 3-0 and give the Lady Wolverines (1-1-1, 0-1 Class 4-A West) their first soccer loss of the season.
Kelly Walsh got on the board early with goals in the 6th, 12th and 38th minute.
Overall, the Lady Trojans outshot the Lady Wolverines 20-12.
"We did not look like the same team that played last Friday, that's for sure, especially in the first half," RHS head coach Tanya Santee said.
Kelly Walsh opened the game with physical, quick play that took Riverton time to adjust to, according to Santee.
"We did not get organized in the first half. I asked them to play their game in the second half, and we played a lot better, especially defensively," Santee said.
The Lady Wolverines made the late trip home Tuesday night, but will hit the road again Thursday for a 3 p.m. match against the Gillette Lady Camels.
"They were more physical, and that is something that we just can't simulate," Santee said, adding that she expects Gillette to play the same type of physical match.
"This is the best team we have seen this year," Santee said.
Riverton 0 0 -- 0
