Apr 2, 2013 - By Bruce Tippets, Sports EditorKaylee Burnett won her first women's rodeo all-around title this year on Saturday at the Colorado State event.
Burnett piled up 215 points for the Central Wyoming College women's rodeo team for her top buckle.
Burnett is a freshman from Farson.
"Kaylee had a really good weekend," CWC women's assistant coach Traci Hinman said.
"The girls were all there working together as a team. That helped them a lot."
The points from Burnett lifted the CWC Rustlers to win the team title in Fort Collins, Colo.
"I was proud of them," Hinman said.
"They all have been working hard. It was good to see that all pay off for them."
Burnett finished third in barrel racing and goat tying.
"Kaylee was pretty excited when she won the rodeo," Hinman said.
Burnett had a two-ride time of 29.27 seconds in barrel racing.
Katie Loughran from Chadron State won the barrel racing title in 28.90.
In goat tying, Burnett was clocked with a time of 14.2 seconds.
Burnett's teammate Shaylee Hance won the title in 13.4 seconds.
"Shaylee was really smooth this weekend," Hinman said. "She was really consistent.
She had to miss the first rodeo. I was pretty impressed that she came back and had a good weekend like that."
In the team standings, CWC outlasted the field, scoring 380 points.
Chadron State placed second with 330 points. Otero Junior College was third (240 points), and Northeastern Junior College finished fourth (235).
CWC will now compete Friday through Sunday in another rodeo at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington.
"They just need to keep on doing the same things that they have been doing all year," Hinman said. "They need to be consistent and just have fun."
