Apr 12, 2013 - StaffJerry W. Johnson, of Riverton, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at his home. He was 82 years old.
Per his request, cremation has taken place, and there will be no services.
Jerry Wayne Johnson was born Dec. 29, 1930, in Riverton, the son of Lee and Melody (Stevens) Johnson. He graduated from Riverton High School and lived most of his life in Riverton.
He worked in the mines at Gas Hills and for Fremont County School District 25 as a school bus driver and janitor. He also did carpentry work.
He married Viola Kinikin on July 2, 1950, at the United Methodist Church in Riverton. They had four children.
His family said he enjoyed airplanes, building furniture, traveling, working at his shop and helping others. He also greatly enjoyed his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Viola; son Michael Lee Johnson of Riverton; daughter Cara Ann Johnson of Riverton; sisters Phyliss Popko and Vera Johnson; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Melody; son Daniel Clay Johnson; daughter Sharon Lee Johnson; brother Glen Johnson; and siblings Lee Cox, Louis Whitlock and Violet Iterian.
