The Fremont County Commission recently proclaimed April as the Month of the Military Child. "The recognition of April as Month of the Military Child will allow us to pay tribute to military children and youth for their commitment, their struggles and their unconditional support of our troops because when parents serve in the military their children serve too," read the proclamation. The proclamation urged citizens, businesses and government to observe the month with activities and ceremonies. U.S Staff Sgt. Aaron Benson told the Fremont County Commission, "The intent of this observance is to honor and empower military children and youth as an important part of our nation's future and raise community awareness about the unique sacrifices and accomplishments of military children." After Benson spoke, the commission approved the proclamation unanimously. Larry Allen and Stephanie Kessler were absent. "The chair is very glad to vote aye," chairman Doug Thompson said. "We thank you and your peers and your families and fully appreciate everything you do."
