The RHS Lady Wolverine soccer team, after practicing inside most of the week because of bad weather, battled tough conditions outside and defeated the Rock Springs Lady Tigers 3-2 Friday evening in Rock Springs.
The elements played a factor in the match. The length of each half was cut to 35 minutes from the normal 40, and halftime as also was cut in half because of wind, cold and sleet, according to RHS head coach Tanya Santee.
Rock Springs scored first in the 12th minute but the Lady Wolverines bounced right back when Baylee Stafford scored one minute later.
The Lady Tigers scored their final goal off a corner kick in the 21st minute, but Riverton again answered quickly when, just two minutes later, Taylor Paskett-Krause knotted the score at 2-2.
Paskett-Krause scored the game winner in the 63rd minute to give Riverton (3-4-1, 2-3 Class 4-A West) their second conference win.
The Lady Wolverines will begin their second round of conference play at Casper Natrona on Thursday before returning to Wolverine Field on Saturday, April 27.
