Apr 24, 2013 - By Alejandra Silva, Staff WriterRevitalize Riverton, the group formed to plan and discuss renovation ideas for City Park, has its first meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at Riverton City Hall.
Residents interested in improving the park and others with ideas are encouraged to attend.
Lee Crook, who leads the group, said the meeting will include time to listen to public comment, provide an explanation of the goals and mission of the group, and begin a selection process to choose group members, a chairman and a co-chairman.
Crook said he hopes eventually to be only in charge of designing and creating the models with the recommended ideas.
"I want something positive to happen, I think there's a lot of potential," Crook said. "It represents the city whether we want it to or not."
Crook said he received positive feedback and support after presenting his ideas at a recent Rotary Club meeting.
Although he has lived in Riverton for only two years, Crook said he thinks he can bring great design ideas to the park. He agreed that a recreational center would be beneficial but is too expensive for the city.
"Wyoming is going to grow in the next 20 years," he said. "How are we going to make Riverton as enticing as possible for young families and entrepreneurs?"
Crook emphasized the importance of residents showing they care about their city, otherwise no improvements will take place.
Revitalize Riverton also has a Facebook page where people can offer comments and ideas.
