Apr 25, 2013 - The Associated PressLARAMIE -- A man who was shot by Laramie police in August has pleaded guilty to burglary and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Kevin Cook originally pleaded not guilty by reason of mental illness in the case but on Monday he changed his plea under a deal with prosecutors. Prosecutors have proposed dropping a third-degree arson charge and will recommend he be put on supervised probation.
A judge hasn't decided whether to accept the deal yet.
Cook was accused of stealing tools from a vehicle. Court documents say that while police were interviewing the owner of the tools, Cook emerged and struck at an officer with an iron pry bar.
