May 2, 2013 - From staff reportsNews from The Ranger now can be heard daily on a Riverton-based radio station as well.
FM station KTUG, which goes by the nickname 105.1 The Pulse, has joined the Ranger in a cooperative venture to provide five brief newscasts daily on the station using Ranger news.
The "Ranger News Brief" began airing regularly this week.
Ranger publisher Steve Peck and KTUG owner and station manager Russ Harper worked out the arrangement for the newscast. Peck serves as the voice of the Ranger News Brief for the time being, but other Ranger reporters are expected to play an on-air role in the future.
"We are happy to give this a try with KTUG," Peck said. "Our daily newspaper remains the foundation of our business, but we think this is a good opportunity to expand our news reach."
Harper acquired KTUG last year and changed its on-air format from a Christian music foundation to a current hits music lineup.
The Ranger News Brief can be heard at the top of each of hour, five times daily at 8 a.m., 9 a.m., noon, 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.
