May 9, 2013 - StaffArthur L. Coggins, of Lander, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Help for Health Hospice in Riverton after a short illness. He was 72 years old.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 10, at Hudson's Funeral Home in Lander. Private family burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Lander.
Arthur Larry Coggins was born June 22, 1940, in Kemmerer, the son of Arthur and Lucy (Petersen) Coggins. He grew up in Superior and moved to Lander in 1957, his sophomore year of high school.
He married Mary Ann Woith on March 15, 1961.
He worked for U.S. Steel for 20 years, retiring in 1981 shortly before it closed. He was later responsible for the security at the mine until the reclamation project was complete. He was a lifelong member of the NRA and an avid hunter.
His family said he enjoyed all sports and was a huge racing fan. He loved all aspects of Wyoming life.
He is survived by his sister, LaRue Moses of Rock Springs; daughter Vanay Coggins Syme of Melbourne, Fla.; son Vance Coggins of Panama City Beach, Fla.; grandson Clayton Syme of Viera, Fla.; granddaughters Heather Coggins of Louisville, Ky., and Ashley Coggins of Panama City Beach, Fla.; nieces Karen West of Henderson, Nev., and Tammy Moses of Las Vegas; nephew Wayne Moses of Rock Springs; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mary Ann Coggins, in 2006; father Arthur W. Coggins in 1972; mother Lucy Coggins in 2000; and nephew Daniel Moses in 1992.
