May 23, 2013 - By Andrea Novotny, Staff WriterThe Riverton CowBelles, a chapter of American National CattleWomen, had its annual Business Person's Appreciation Luncheon on May 16.
"The luncheon is our way of saying thanks to the business people in the community who support agriculture," said CowBelles president Cathy Meyer.
The CowBelles is a group of ranch women whose aim is to educate the public about agriculture and promote the agriculture industry. All food at the luncheon is made by members of the group.
The CowBelles host a variety of events throughout the year in Riverton. The group hosts the annual ag expo, an event designed to educate third-graders about agriculture. In December, the women donate beef gift certificates at grocery stores to encourage people to buy beef. The CowBelles also host the beef dinners at the bull sales, through donations by the salesmen.
