Flag volunteers invited Saturday to the cemetery

The American Legion, Marine Corps League, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars are hosting two events over the Memorial Day weekend.

The groups are seeking volunteers to place roughly 1,450 flags on veterans' graves at 8 a.m. Saturday at Mountain View Cemetery. Volunteers are advised to bring gloves.

On Monday, Mayor Ron Warpness will be the guest speaker at a Memorial Day ceremony at 10 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery. The ceremony is open to all who wish to remember and pay tribute to veterans. Military and veterans groups will participate. There ceremony lasts about one hour.
