Christopher E. Goethe

Former Lander resident Christopher E. Goethe of West Stockbridge, Mass., died Wednesday, May 15, 2013. He was 57.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the United Methodist Church in Alford, Mass.

Christopher Edward Goethe was born Oct. 10, 1955, in Huntington, N.Y., the son of Leona Marie Hamilton Goethe and Edward Christopher Goethe. He was a graduate of Northport (N.Y.) High School.

He worked for Petersen Geller Spurge Millwork Inc., Architectural Woodworking Co. as a fine wood worker.

He and wife Sharon were married April 21, 1979, in Lander, and lived in Massachusetts for the past 26 years.

He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed mountain climbing, rock climbing and ice climbing.

At age 19, he climbed Mt. McKinley in Alaska.

He is survived by his mother, Leona, of Napanoch, N.Y.; wife Sharon Louise Hunt Goethe; daughters Heather Lea Goethe of West Stockbridge and Sarah Marie Goethe-Jones of Stockbridge, Mass.; son-in-law Jeremy Jones; and sister Lois Murphy of Haverhill, Mass.
