Man arrested in Sunday stabbing incident

May 29, 2013 - By Katie Roenigk, Staff Writer

The victim, stabbed three times, was reported in stable condition at Riverton Memorial Hospital.

Patrick Duran, 24, of Riverton, was arrested for aggravated assault Sunday, accused of stabbing someone three times in the side of the chest.

Officials said Duran's victim was a 30-year-old Riverton man who suffered "significant" injuries in the incident.

He was reported in stable condition Tuesday at Riverton Memorial Hospital.

The victim's girlfriend reported the stabbing at about 6 p.m. Sunday from the Gardens North subdivision north of Honor Farm Road. She said she was headed to the hospital with her boyfriend, and Duran had left the scene of the attack along with 26-year-old Colin Amos of Riverton.

Deputies worked with the Riverton Police Department to locate and apprehend Duran as well as Amos, who was arrested for interference with a police officer. Officials said Amos "directly interfered with the investigation by knowingly providing false information."

The sheriff's office is investigating before providing more details.

Initial reports indicate officers attempted to locate Duran and Amos at a residence just before 7 p.m. Sunday, but occupants of the home would not give their consent for officers to enter.

At 7:20 p.m. Sunday a deputy reportedly made contact with the subject and was "yelling commands" at him.
