Mar 18, 2012 - StaffFremont County Orchestra's 25th season Spring Concert is happening on Saturday, March 24.
Orchestra conductor Rebecca Murdock said the concert program highlights "World Dances and Marches," surprise soloists, a guest conductor for one number and the Imperial Orchestra.
The winner of the January "Conduct the Orchestra Auction" selected the guest conductor.
The Imperial Orchestra features younger string players from Fremont County.
The concert features Smetana's "Dance of the Comedians," "Symphonic Dances" from the Broadway musical "Fiddler on the Roof," Robert Sheldon's "Danza Cubana," Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's "Danse Nègre," the Strauss Jr. "Egyptian March" and Elgar's "March of the Mogul Emperors" from his "Crown of India Suite."
The program also includes a Beatles medley, the "Kitchen Percussion March" and "Thunder and Lightning Polka" by Johann Strauss Sr. with 12-year-old Riverton resident Rylan Peranteaux as the guest conductor.
The Fremont County Orchestra traditionally presents three concerts each year. Murdock said the Spring Concert starts at 7 p.m. at the Lander Valley High School Auditorium.
Concert tickets are $6 per person or $ 20 for a family. They are available at the door. A reception will follow the concert.
