Mar 18, 2012 - StaffOrganizers of the 2012 Wyoming State Winter Fair that wrapped up on March 3 reported the gathering was a successful event.
Although the March 1 winter fair attendance figures were average due to its Thursday scheduling, crowds picked up the next two days to visit with the 61 vendors at the event. More than half of the sellers were newcomers.
"Overall it was a great fair with good food, entertainment and many new and vendor goods on display," organizers reported.
Proceeds from the livestock show and sale increased this year, with hogs getting between $50 and $400. All animals raised by the youth participants sold at the sale.
Attendance and participation at the Horse Show also increased, while the miniature bull riding contest was a popular draw, organizers said.
As planning already has started for the 2013 event, organizers are looking to move the miniature bull riding contest to Friday night from its Sunday night schedule.
