Jun 4, 2013 - From staff reportsNearly fifty runners and walkers raised more than $1,300 for college scholarships in the PEO Dash for Cash held Saturday morning.
The Riverton Chapter AP organized the event , awarding local high school scholarships to young women who are interested in pursuing higher education. The 5-kilometer run was designed to help PEO, an educational sorority dedicated to promoting education of women, raise funds.
Cash Prizes were awarded for the top two finishers in men's and women's under and over 30 categories.
Ben Zoller was the fastest runner in the under-30 men's group with a time of 20:29. John Kindle won the mens 30 and older group with a time of 21:39.
Charlene Brown won the women's under 30 group with a time of 21:32. Linda Bender was first in the 30 and older group with a time of 25:22.
Second place winners were Jullian Hubbard, Klaus Zoller, Trysta Stingley and Nora Willow.
Both Ben and Klaus Zoller donated their cash prizes back to the scholarship fund according to race organizers.
