Jun 4, 2013 - The Associated PressMANILA, Utah -- Authorities believe a Wyoming man whose body was found at Flaming Gorge Reservoir drowned while trying to retrieve a boat.
Sweetwater County sheriff's officials reported that the body of 49-year-old Mitch Hunt of Rock Springs was found Sunday in about 8 feet of water.
An autopsy was pending Tuesday.
A woman told investigators she and Hunt were boating Sunday when they brought the boat up to the beach south of Firehole Canyon.
She told deputies the wind pushed the boat into the bay, and Hunt went after it.
The woman says she saw Hunt struggling in the water, but he went under before she could attempt to save him.
A helicopter that responded to the scene spotted Hunt's body in the water. Rescuers that pulled him out were unable to revive him.
