The Rawlins Generals surprised the Riverton Raiders twice Wednesday night in an American Legion baseball doubleheader at Roy Peck Field.
Rawlins swept Riverton 12-5 and 19-6. The second game was called off the fifth inning because of the 10-run.
Riverton entered the doubleheader after sweeping Rock Springs in Sweetwater County.
Riverton had beaten Rawlins 14-1 in the first meeting of the season.
Riverton hosts the Roy Peck Memorial Wood Bat Tournament Saturday and Sunday at Roy Peck Field.
There is a two-hour time limit in all games except for the championship contest. Only wooden bats may be used.
Riverton opens the tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday vs. Rawlins.
The Raiders play at 4:30 p.m. vs. Douglas to close out the first day.
Riverton goes at 10:30 a.m. Sunday vs. Green River.
The top two teams advance to play in the title game at 3:30 p.m.
All games are at Roy Peck Field.
The Generals crossed home plate five times in the second for a 7-0 lead against the Raiders.
In the bottom of the third, Rusty Davis belted a solo home run.
Ridge McCoy followed it up with a two-run double before getting thrown out at third.
Raiders manager Brady Beers was forced to put in Leif Krumland on the mound in for relief of Ryan Axthelm in the top of the fourth.
Krumland had thrown more than 130 pitches on Saturday vs. Rock Springs.
Rawlins added four more runs while Riverton scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single from Nate Hatfield and an RBI groundout from Baylor Beers.
A.J. Vizcaino recorded the win for the Generals. He struck out seven, walked two and gave up eight hits.
In the nightcap, the story of the game was the second inning for the Generals.
In the frame that lasted half an hour, Rawlins pounded out 13 runs, six hits, and committed three errors to knock out starter Devin Matsen.
The biggest hit for the Raiders came in the bottom of the second inning when Krumland produced a two-run triple.
Axthelm also had another triple in the game.
Lane Potratz went the distance for the win for the Generals.
