More than 2,500 without power; CWC cancels evening classes

Jun 13, 2013 - From staff reports

Rocky Mountain Power officials said around 5 p.m. Thursday that more than 2,500 customers throughout Riverton were without power.

The Riverton Police Department said the Riverton Regional Airport west of town and customers along Main Street were among those affected.

Classes canceled at CWC

All Riverton classes at Central Wyoming College were canceled Thursday evening, according to an electronic notice published by the college.

Rocky Mountain Power said the problem was due to a "tangle with equipment" at a substation.

The company said crews were working on the issue and expected power to be returned to customers by 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

UPDATE: Rocky Mountain Power said that power had been restored to all customers by 6:03 p.m., according to the company's website. Anyone still without power can call 1-877-508-5088 to report the outage.

At approximately 5:55 p.m. Thursday, power had been restored to at least some parts of the affected areas, including businesses on Main Street and customers in the Big Wyoming Addition in Riverton.
