Jun 25, 2013 - By Andrea Novotny, Staff WriterThe Fremont County Shrine Club, in conjunction with the Lander Shrine Club, will host its 56th annual Shriner's Circus at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Fremont County Fairgrounds, 1010 Fairgrounds Drive, Riverton.
Children get in for free, and adult tickets are available at the gate for $5.
The Jordan Circuses, a traveling family circus out of Las Vegas, will present high wire acts, clowns, horses and elephants.
The primary project of the club is to support a children's hospital in Salt Lake City. Much of the care the hospital provides is outpatient or short term, which means a lot of travel for many families.
"We try to make it as easy for them as we can," said Jim Davis, a member of the Fremont County Shrine Club.
The club provides travel assistance for patients and their families in the northern parts of Fremont County. Any child under 18 is eligible for assistance.
The club also makes direct donations to the hospital.
The Shriners will host a children's parade at 10 a.m. Wednesday on Main Street in Riverton. The lineup will start around 9 a.m. behind the Elks Club. Participants will display floats, ride horses and bikes, and walk four blocks down Main Street.
Proceeds from the Shriner's Circus go toward the Fremont County Shrine Club and its projects.
