Riverton school board chairman Mark Stone recognized the retirement of assistant superintendent Dr. Kim McKinnon during the board's regular meeting June 25.

McKinnon was hired by the district in 1982 and has served as Riverton's curriculum director, administrative assistant and assistant superintendent.

Stone thanked McKinnon for his years of service saying, "You can't replace that kind of experience overnight.

"You are going to be missed, and you are a great asset to this district."

McKinnon said he was thankful for the opportunities that had been extended to him.

Riverton High School principal Joanne Flanagan has been hired to replace McKinnon as of Monday.

The Fremont County School District 25 board also approved an administrative end-of-year budget recommendation to move $1.2 million from several district funds to a depreciation account; extended a contract to Meghan Thompson as a fixed-base teacher at Rendezvous Elementary School; approved the 2013-14 Riverton Middle School handbook as proposed by principal Cheryl Mowry; and approved an administrative recommendation to allow other Fremont County school buses to enter Riverton's district to pick up students during the 2013-14 school year.
