Herman Wallace St. Clair

Herman Wallace St. Clair died Friday, July 5, 2013. He was 32 years old.

Traditional Indian funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, at Rocky Mountain Hall at Fort Washakie with Harrison Shoyo Jr. and Arlen Shoyo officiating. An evening service will be 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at Rocky Mountain Hall with a wake to follow at the Gloria St. Clair residence, 38 South Fork Road, Fort Washakie. Interment will be in the Sacajawea Cemetery.

Herman Wallace St. Clair was born Oct. 31, 1980, in Lander, the son of Gloria St. Clair and the late Edwin St. Clair.

He was a lifelong resident of the Wind River Indian Reservation. His Indian name was White Clay Man. He attended schools at Mill Creek and graduated from Wyoming Indian High School in 1989. He was a bull rider and team roper and was a member of the Rocky Mountain Indian Rodeo Association. He also attended powwows and sang with Black Bull Juniors drum group.

He was a game warden for the Tribal Fish and Game and also worked for the Eastern Shoshone Housing. He served two terms on the Eastern Shoshone Entertainment Committee.

He married Emmi O'Neal.

He is survived by his children, Tani and Stetson St. Clair, Taylor Tidzump and Savanna Arneach; brothers Edwin St. Clair Jr. and Neil St. Clair; sisters Illa St. Clair (Toby Jones) and Gladys St. Clair (Antone Tidzump); nephews Elijah and Brian St. Clair Jr., Antonio Coando and Antonio Tidzump; nieces Toma and Daisy St. Clair, Nona Coando and Falyn and Antoria Tidzump; mother Gloria St. Clair; uncles Clyde WallowingBull, Vernon, Darrell and Meldon Hill, Arvin Jorgenson, David Ferris, Delmar Haukaas, John, Billy, Ruben and Orvill St. Clair; aunts Flora and Francis Swallow, Velma Rhodes, Velma Chavez, Harlene LeBeau, Lucille Foote, Bonnie Washakie, Violet LaJeunesse and Iva LeClair; and numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; brother Bryan St. Clair Sr.; grandparents Gladys Hill, John and Jessie Swallow, Edgar, Herman and Daisy St. Clair; aunts Tarita Jorgenson, Teola St. Clair and Florence Amos; and uncles Wilfred Ferris Sr., Richard "Dick" Ferris, Herman "Bundy" Ferris, Leland St. Clair, Kenneth Jorgenson, Raymond "Raisins" Ferris, Ben Tillman, Darwin St. Clair, Reynold WallowingBull and Dean Swallow.
