Osborne is big winner at Pioneer Days Rodeo

Jul 9, 2013 - By Bruce Tippets, Sports Editor

Zac Osborne cashed the biggest paycheck Thursday after he won the bull riding event at the Lander Pioneer Days Rodeo.

Osborne posted a score of 73 to win $1,000 for the evening.

Stan Williams won the all-around buckle and $905.

Williams and team-roping partner Miles Kobold put down a time of 6.02 seconds to pocket $547. Williams and Brodie Bennett finished third in team roping with a score of 8.59 seconds.

"The turnout was up this year for the rodeo," Lander rodeo helper Julie Freese said. "All of the events were very competitive. The scores and the times will reflect that."

The stock for the rodeo was provided by Gifford Rodeo and Frank Enos.

"There were no complaints on the stock," Freese said. "From the scores and the times, it appeared that the (stock animals) were good."

Freese said mini-bull riding, bull riding, bronc riding and Indian relays were the most popular events at the rodeo.

"Although there were only two teams in the Indian relays, the races were close and exciting both nights," Freese said. "The mini bulls provided exciting rides with very young competitors."
