Jul 11, 2013 - From staff reportsThe Riverton Police Department responded to a traffic accident involving a motorcycle Thursday morning near the 1600 block of North Federal Boulevard.
The incident report was not complete Thursday, but RPD chief Mike Broadhead said a woman was attempting to turn south from the east side of Federal Boulevard at about 9:40 a.m. Thursday when the incident occurred.
She reportedly failed to see a motorcycle that was in the outer southbound lane of Federal Boulevard. Broadhead said the bike was on the other side of a "large truck" that was in the inner southbound lane.
"The lady that was pulling out kind of waited to clear the truck (but) didn't realize there was a motorcycle in the next lane," Broadhead said Thursday. "The front of her vehicle struck the saddle bag on the motorcycle."
A man reportedly was driving the full-dress touring Harley-Davidson motorcycle with a female passenger on the back of the bike. Broadhead said the woman was ejected from the motorcycle and was transported to Riverton Memorial Hospital to be treated for a leg injury.
"The man stayed with the bike but was out of control at that point and crashed," Broadhead said.
The incident blocked all four lanes of Federal Boulevard for half an hour as crews worked to clear debris. Traffic was diverted to side streets.
Further information was unavailable Thursday.
