Jul 12, 2013 - By Katie Roenigk, Staff WriterOfficials have determined that Audrey Arguello, 49, of Riverton, died Monday of a subdural hematoma as the result of an accidental fall.
Medical references define a subdural hematoma as a collection of blood in the skull outside the brain, usually caused by severe head injuries. The bleeding and increased pressure on the brain from a subdural hematoma can be life-threatening, and though some hematomas stop and resolve spontaneously, others require surgical drainage.
Fremont County Coroner Ed McAuslan said Arguello died at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper. She had been airlifted to the hospital after falling Sunday evening.
McAuslan said Arguello was involved in a car accident about a month before her death, but he said the crash had nothing to do with her passing.
"The cause of death is from the fall," McAuslan said.
