Raiders open with split on Douglas field

The Riverton Raiders posted a 1-1 record in the first two days of an American Legion wooden-bat tournament in Douglas.

The Raiders lost to Douglas 7-0 on Friday night to begin the three-day tournament.

Riverton bounced back for a 12-6 victory over Green River on Saturday afternoon.

In the win, Ryan Axthelm went five innings on the mound to control Green River's offense.

Green River was up 3-1 after the first two innings.

Riverton scored four runs in the third and seven more in the fourth for the victory.

Axthelm and Baylor Beers had three hits apiece. The Raiders finished with 14 hits in the game. Riverton had three errors.

In the game on Friday night, the Raiders had just one hit in the seveninning game.

Douglas finished with nine hits. Douglas broke open the close game with five runs in the third inning.

Douglas scored one run in the fourth and one more in the fifth.

Delbert Wichelhaus pitched three innings, and Devin Matsen went two.
