Cowgirls v-ball host spring tourney Saturday

LARAMIE - The Wyoming Cowgirl Volleyball Team will host and play in their first spring tournament on Saturday, March 24. The matches are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. in the UniWyo Sports Complex. Besides the Cowgirls, Casper College, Colorado Mesa, LCCC, Northwest College, Regis and Western Wyoming will also participate.

In the eight team format, which includes a split UW squad, each team will play two sets with scoring to 25 points or a 60 minute time limit. The Wyoming team is scheduled to play Regis at 9:00 a.m., Western Wyoming at 11:20 a.m. and Northwest College at 2:50 p.m. The Cowgirl team will be in action against LCCC at 9:00 a.m., Colorado Mesa at 11:20 a.m. and Casper College to close things out at 2:50 p.m. A playoff schedule determined by seeding will begin at 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Wyoming is coming off a 21-11 overall campaign and 9-5 Mountain West Conference mark in 2011, while finishing tied for third in league play. Fifth year head coach Carrie Yerty will welcome back six starters, including All-MWC selection Jodi Purdy, ten total letterwinners, two redshirts and three newcomers.
