Jul 30, 2013 - StaffMyrtle M. Shaner died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at her home in Riverton. She was 72 years old.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 23, at Davis Funeral Home with Doug Roe officiating. Interment was the same day at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Myrtle Maxine Shaner was born July 8, 1941, in New Castle, the daughter of James F. and Lora L. (West) Davis.
She attended schools in Lander and Central Wyoming College.
During her childhood, she lived on the family's farm near Pavillion before moving to Lander. On April 27, 1957, she married Raymond Shaner in Lander. The couple moved to Riverton in 1967.
For 20 years, Mrs. Shaner worked at the original Sears store in Riverton until the store closed. In 1996, she began working at H&R Block.
She was a member of the Rebekahs, and her family said she enjoyed snorkeling, traveling, silhouette shooting, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Steven Shaner of Riverton, Ronald and his wife Jennifer Shaner of Austin, Texas, and David Dilger of Riverton; daughter Donna Shaner of Riverton; brother Elmor and his wife Delores Davis of Lander; and grandchildren Amy, Joseph and Raymond Shaner.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000; parents; sister Lora Dillman; and brother James "Jim" Davis.
