Aug 6, 2013 - Dave Case, RivertonEditor:
I suspect that the job of a policeman is a thankless one more often than not, so a heartfelt thank-you to our policeman for being outstanding public servants is in order.
Our church, LifeLine Christian, recently used a "man lift" to assist in removing a large, broken tree limb that was hung up another tree. Bob Steen from the rental company proposed to drive the man lift across West Main Street and down the hill to our church building at the corner of Major and Riverview, instead of trailering it for such a short distance.
But because man lifts travel so slowly, we were worried about getting across West Main without causing an accident.
Bob called the Riverton Police Department to ask for assistance in getting across West Main.
Within 15 minutes, there were two policemen ready to help us. As soon as Bob was right across the street, the policeman block traffic in both directions, and Bob crossed West Main safely.
I realize that helping us was probably done in the line of duty, but I sure appreciate how our policeman responded so quickly and willingly to assist us, and I know that Bob is equally as grateful.
Thank you, Riverton policemen, for making our day easier.
