Floyd A. Chingman, of Fort Washakie, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at his home. He was 38 years old.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Rocky Mountain Hall in Fort Washakie. A wake will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at Rocky Mountain Hall.
Floyd Avon Chingman was born Nov. 11, 1974, in Lander, the son of Floyd Antelope Sr. and Karen J. Sage. After his father died, he was adopted by Gary J. Chingman Sr. He was raised on the Wind River Indian Reservation.
He earned his GED and received his Carpenter Certificate through the Tribal Employment Program. He also worked as a stocker for Mr. D's in Lander, an installer of solar panels in St. Louis, a counselor at Changing Spirits in Long Beach, Calif., and an oil field laborer.
He was a member of the Wyoming Indian Outdoor Club.
His family said he enjoyed listening to music, going to the mountains, fishing, skiing, rock climbing, attending car shows, drawing, watching football, being a member of Raider Nation, and being around his family.
He is survived by his parents, Karen and Gary Chingman Sr.; sons Matthew J. Chingman and Joseph A. Piper-Chingman; daughter Lyric L. Chingman; grandparents Audrey Sage, Judy Large, Emily Niedo, Pamela Enos, Sharon (Joy) Ortegon, Terry Enos, George Enos, Mary Henan, Peggy Myers, Joe Henan, Ben Henan, Becky Sage-Quiver, Bill Sage, Cindy Sage-Winn, Byron Sage, Ardene Sage, Theresa Wells, Emogene Wells and George Wells; brothers John White Antelope, Dennis Antelope, Gary Chingman Jr. and Michael Chingman; sisters Clarissa Vierra, Patrice Hereford and Esther Antelope; uncle Benjamin Howard Antelope; and aunts Joetta Brown, Ardith Addison, Joleen Quiver, Della Sage, Christie Large, Odessa Eagle, Dallas Eagle, Stephanie Tillman, Lisa Perry, Theresa Trosper, Esther Enos, Becky Enos, Cheryl Enos-Arthur, Vicki Enos, Georgina Enos, Phyllis Trosper, Janice Sage and Fildelia Overberg.
He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Antelope Sr., and his grandparents, Allison Sage, Lillian Blade Antelope, George Joseph Antelope, Ernest Chingman Sr. and Florence Chingman.
