Aug 14, 2013 - By Alejandra Silva, Staff WriterThe Riverton City Council has approved new ordinances that require motor vehicle drivers to have a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance. The changes were made Aug. 6.
City staff said drivers currently cited for driver's license or insurance violations are settled in circuit court and the fines collected are kept with Fremont County. The city's new ordinances would allow the fines from the violations to stay with the city and be deposited into the general fund, creating a budget gain for the city.
The city made the changes in keeping with Wyoming statutes.
