Powell tables further talk of smoking ban

POWELL -- The Powell City Council has abandoned further discussion of a possible city-wide smoking ban.

The issue was before the council for two months. On Monday, all but one out of a dozen people who spoke before the council said they opposed any smoking ban.

The Powell City Council has tabled the ban indefinitely.

Mayor Don Hillman says Powell residents should make their own choices about patronizing businesses that allow or don't allow smoking.

He also says business owners have a right to operate as they see fit.

Wyoming cities with recent smoking bans include Cheyenne, Laramie, Rock Springs and Casper.

Recently Casper amended its smoking ban to allow smoking in bars not associated with restaurants.
