Aug 21, 2013 - By Katie Roenigk, Staff WriterOfficials are investigating a shooting death that took place overnight at the Cozy Mobile Home Park in Riverton.
The victim's name and age were not available Wednesday; he is scheduled to be autopsied Thursday.
No one is in custody in connection with the death.
Deputies from the Fremont County Sheriff's Office responded at about 1:35 a.m. Wednesday to a home in the trailer park, 1575 E. Monroe Ave. The reporting party told dispatchers that a man at the residence was the victim of a gunshot.
The man was inside the trailer and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials still were engaged in the active investigation Wednesday morning and would not release additional information.
"At this point we are still processing the scene, interviewing witnesses and canvassing the neighborhood," Undersheriff Ryan Lee said.
At about 10:45 a.m., yellow police tape had been removed from the trailer home where the man was found dead. The tape, along with at least one pair of blue gloves, had been left in cardboard boxes outside of trailer 28, and another strand lay on the ground across the street from the home.
Several residents at the scene said they didn't hear any commotion before the early morning call to police.
But another woman who lives two doors down from trailer 28 said she heard two gunshots around 1:20 a.m. followed by the sound of a woman screaming.
She said a woman lives in the trailer with two children. The neighbor also identified the shooting victim as a man.
