Aug 21, 2013 - StaffThe periodic arrival of smoke from the Hardluck Fire has turned Riverton-area skies orange and changed the appearance of the sun as well. This scene greeted motorists on West Main Street in Riverton on a recent smoky evening. The fire's southern boundary is about 15 miles north of Dubois in the Shoshone National Forest in Park County. Total acreage has increased significantly in recent days and is likely to top 25,000 by Thursday. Changing weather could help; forecasters predict "monsoonal moisture" in the region over the next two days. The fire is in remote, rugged terrain and is being allowed to burn.
