Aug 22, 2013 - StaffCharles R. "Chappy" Heider died Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander. He was 99 years old.

Charles Heider was born Sept. 29, 1913, in Johnstown, Pa., the son of Edward L. and Anna B. (Custer) Heider.
He worked as a yardmaster for Conemaugh and BlackLick Railroad.
He was a faithful member of the Calvary Methodist Church and was a trustee and life member of the Johnstown Elks Lodge No. 175.
He also was a member of the Menoher Post 155 VFW. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served with the 20th Armored Division.
In 2010, he moved from his hometown of Johnstown, Pa., to Lander to be with his daughter.
He is survived by his daughter Louise (Pixie) Kline and her husband Bruce of Lander; grandchildren Melissa (Missy) Walker and her husband Jason of Gillette and Cody Kline and his wife Kathryn Loughan of Boulder, Colo.; and great-grandchildren Isaiah and Malerie Walker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Florence M. (Nichols) Heider; and granddaughter Annie Kline.
