Marty Rana Brister

Marty Rana Brister, of Rawlins, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie after battling lung cancer. She was 50 years old.

Memorial services will beat noon Thursday, Sept. 12, at Carbon County Funeral Home, 702 W.Walnut St., Rawlins. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.

Marty Rana Brister was born Oct. 30, 1962, in McComb, Miss., the daughter of Willie Paul Brister andMartha Lou Ard Brister.

Ms. Brister had worked as the school nurse at Carbon County Child Development Center in Rawlins since 2003. Her family said she loved all of her children there, and she wanted the world to be abetter place for children and give those children who needed the extra help in life a kindword and hug, and see to it that they got the medical help they needed.

Throughout her careershe worked at the American Red Cross in Jackson, Miss., PG&E in San Francisco, Bildora Nursing Home in Tylertown, Miss., South Central Wyoming Healthcare andRehabilitation Center in Rawlins and as a traveling nurse with Interim HealthCare.

Ms. Brister was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Jayess, Miss.

Her family said she enjoyed cooking, art, hunting,fishing, photography and children, and she loved herpartner of 10 years, John Rimmer, and said he made her complete.

She is survived by her partner, John Rimmer; son Tyrel La'Bo Westbrook and his wife Brittany; Mr. Rimmer's children,Travis and Leanora Rimmer, Trent Rimmer of Saratoga, and Jolene and Paul Morgan of Canon City, Colo.; grandchildren Hunter Westbrook and Hayden Westbrook of Pearl, Miss.; Mr. Rimmer's grandchildren Rowan Rimmer of Casper, Driften Rimmer of Casper, Nathan Rimmer of Leesburg, Ga., Noah Rimmer of Leesburg, Ga., and AbigailRimmer of Leesburg, Ga.; brothers David Brister of Jayess, Miss. and Shaneand Pam of Pricedale, Miss.; sisters Paula andWayne Brumbeloe of McComb, Miss., and Judie and Boyd Williams of Riverton; numerousnephews, nieces and other relatives and friends; and her Head Start family staff andchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Rocky Brister; nephew JeramieBrister; sister-in-law Kip Brister; and friend Jeff Inman.
