Sep 15, 2013 - By Bruce Tippets, Sports EditorThe string of victories came to an end for the Riverton Wolverines on the golf course Friday at the Sheridan Invitational.
The Wolverines finished third in the field made up of 14 teams.
Laramie came in first. Cheyenne East was second.
Riverton had won its first three tournaments of the season
"On Thursday, the playing conditions were very tough," RHS coach Lars Flanagan said. "It was windy and cold. It was the first time that we had played this course. Our inexperience really showed on Thursday. We played better on Friday, but we still played average."
The tournament was played on the Kendrick Municipal Golf Course.
"What that told us is there are five good teams in the state. We are fortunate to be one of them," Flanagan said.
"It was really important to see the other teams from the East side. Cheyenne East is a very good team."
RHS is preparing to host the Class 4-A West tournament Thursday and Friday at the Riverton Country Club.
