Sep 18, 2013 - By Craig Blumenshine, Staf WriterAfter swimming a weekend in Park County, the Riverton Wolverine girls swim team will be back in the Riverton Aquatic Center for a meet Thursday with Green River, Rock Springs and Evanston.
The meet is set to start at 4 p.m. There is no admission charge to attend.
Friday at Cody, junior Jordan Settlemire won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:28.20 and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.07. Both times meet state Class 4-A qualifying standards.
Michaela Kechter placed seventh in the 100-yard butterfly (1:19.10), Rachel Hutchinson grabbed 12th in the 100-yard freestyle (1:13.59), Riley Thomas, Stephanie Joy, Elena Holguin placed 9th-11th, respectively, in the 500-yard freestyle (7:06.02, 7:07.13, 7:30.12), and Kierra Muehler and Kassi Kister placed ninth and 10th, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke (1:24.32, 1:25.25).
"Freshman Riley Thomas executed a nice race. She cut 15 seconds off of her time and that primarily due to strategy. I was glad she wanted to swim the 500," RHS head coach Chad Fallin said.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, Michaela Kechter placed third (1:22.05), Stephanie Joy placed sixth (1:26.05), Ruth Engelhardt finished eighth (1:30.35) and Emily Kusel grabbed 10th (1:33.16).
Kechter is close to meeting the Class 4-A qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke, according to Fallin.
Holguin placed 12th in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:38.08.
Riverton placed fourth in the quadrangular behind Jackson, Lander and Cody.
Saturday in Powell, Settlemire won the 200-yard freestyle in a state qualifying time of 2:07.11, nearly eight seconds faster than her seed time. Settlemire also placed second in the 100-yard backstroke with a state Q time of 1:07.80.

Riverton hosts Rawlins in a dual meet Saturday at the RAC.
"We're getting excited for Rawlins. I have been looking at their times, and we can get excited about giving them a run for their money," Fallin said.
